Because today it just screams class.

So new money. The gold-plated Lambo of its day.

Exactly, and now you need to be an absolute sir/madame in order to look appropriate driving it.

The story of all time. Something new and gauche becomes established and traditional. Still funny to think about though!

That probably says more about how much standards have declined over the years. It used to be just painting a perfectly respectable car in a loud color was enough to make it gauche. Today, you need to get much more creative and put in a lot more time and energy to be considered unusually tasteless.

Good lord I want it badly!

Bah! A motorcar for rubes, dandys, jazz musicians and other ne'r do wells! Next they will be letting people marry outside of the social register! To think Rolls-Royce would stoop to this level of unashamed exhibitionism! I have a mind to return my Silver Ghost and consider Cadillac instead. A luxury coach should only be appointed in black, or a dark gray or silver if the lady will be the primary user. British racing green for those roguish Bentley Boys, but this yellow monstruosity is just plain ridiculous!

Yesterday's nouveau-riche is today's old-money.

The funny thing is, Bentley and Rolls are still nouveau riche today. Some things never change.

I would argue that that depends on which model and how it is appointed.
